Potters from the February Event (other professional potters will be joining us):

Rebecca Harvey is a potter working in Cornwall who makes a range of bespoke porcelain tableware and one-off sculptural objects. She has created several ranges of ceramic tableware, including the brand ‘Cornishpots’. Her work has been exhibited and is in collections internationally. She has been awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Scholarship and a Royal College of Art Award. She has been grant recipient from Crafts Council, BIG2 (European Union Development Fund), and Arts Council England.

Kirsty Adams’ main inspiration and methods of working were developed whilst living and
working in Japan. She became particularly inspired by the Oribe style of glazing, and
this has influenced her subsequent work, which is undertaken at her studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2017 she was selected by the Crafts Council to produce a bespoke collection for the National Trust. She has recently developed a limited-edition tea bowl series to celebrate twenty-five years since her training in Japan. She is a Selected Member and Regional Coordinator of Design Nation UK and a member of the Crafts Council Directory. In 2022 she was selected by the Michelangelo Foundation for inclusion in their prestigious Homo Faber Guide for European-wide excellence in craftsmanship.

Tom Knowles Jackson has his studio in the Cotswolds. He produces high-fired stoneware, using a small range of glazes he devises from iron, copper and wood ash. He was a participant on the first BBC Television programme ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’. He is the Owner and Creative Director at @theclayloft and the manufacturer of the McMeekin wheel and A Potter’s Tool.

Dr Matthew Tyas is a potter, curator, and writer. He received his PhD from the University of Falmouth in partnership with the Leach Pottery in St Ives, Cornwall, where he now works as Curator. His studio work focusses on materials and process, often explored through the metaphors of seasons and landscape.

Linda Bloomfield is a well-known potter and writer. She produces ceramic art and functional tableware. She comes to her practice with a background in engineering and science, and with this knowledge she has published seven books on glazes and pottery, and writes regularly for the ceramic press.

Steve Booton produces pottery that is strongly influenced by Japanese ceramics, in his use of materials, techniques and aesthetics. He is well-known on the UK ceramics circuit, participating in multiple ceramics fairs annually. He has recently been producing videos showing how he works in the studio for his YouTube channel.

Richard St John Heeley grew up in Stoke-on-Trent, surrounded by pottery and from a very early age he knew ceramics was always going to be an important part of his life. Graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1996, achieving a BA Hons in Ceramics and Design, he focussed on reduction firing and oriental ceramics. He set up his first pottery in south London, specializing in blue and white porcelain.
He is known for making one-off drinking vessels decorated with fluid brushwork. Thrown on a momentum wheel, his work is influenced by a deep appreciation of Korean 16th century ware from the Chosôn dynasty. His recent work is wood fired shino glazed porcelain & stoneware, designed to be complementary to the blue and white work.

He strives for a holistic approach to working and living, and together with his wife Lucy owns and manages Hempmill Pottery & Cookery School on the border between Shropshire and Staffordshire. He grows and uses his own wood to fire and sources local clay and materials from the Hempmill wetlands for his work.
